Caring for You, Too
Therapy for Perinatal Women and New Moms in Lakewood, Colorado and online across CO, MO & NY
Support for the overwhelming emotions, anxiety, and identity changes that come with pregnancy and early motherhood—because your emotional well-being matters.
If motherhood feels harder than you imagined, you’re not alone.
This time in your life is entirely destabilizing and nobody talks about it; your life is transforming before your very eyes and there is grief in knowing that you can never go back; You wonder to yourself, “Am I going to grow into the mom I have dreamed about being?”
You thought this time in your life would be full of bliss, cuddles and connection, but instead, you are carrying more than you expected — navigating anxiety, overwhelm, or a sense of disconnection during a time you thought would feel different. It can be confusing and even isolating, when it seems like you are the only one feeling this way, compared to the pictures you see of other new moms looking so fulfilled.
That’s where support can make a difference — Giving you a grounded, supportive space to be honest about what you’re going through and guide you toward feeling like yourself again. You don’t have to wait until you’re at your breaking point. Together, therapy can be proactive, collaborative, and empowering from the very beginning.
You might be feeling…
Like you don’t know who you are anymore and wake up everyday feeling like you’ve been shot out of a cannon and are just trying to keep up.
Unsure how to navigate, or turn back from, this “new normal” that feels completely different than what you expected
Like you are vibrating with anger, stress or worry in instances that come out of nowhere and you don’t know how to get it to stop
The weight of your traumatic birth story, preventing you from connecting to your family, to the point where you are on an island by yourself, and your partner and baby are just visible on the horizon.
A deep sense of exhaustion every day, though feel like to have to push it aside because of the guilt, self-doubt, or pressure to “do it all,” which then feels impossible with the weight of the mental load that comes with it
Sad as you long for the pieces of you that seem to be lost since becoming a mother
From overwhelm to steady ground, where you can feel proud of who you are as a mom.
How I Help
Motherhood is beautiful, exhausting, joyful, and overwhelming all at once.
When you start therapy with me, it is true that we will be therapist and client, though it is also a relationship of mom to mom. We won't start by drilling into your past and all the ways you have struggled, rather give you the time and space to finally breathe..
I offer a supportive, non-judgmental space where you can slow down and be honest about what you’re feeling — without pressure to have it all figured out. Through a blend of talk therapy, creative and reflective approaches, and practical tools, we work together to help you make sense of your experience and feel more grounded in yourself.
At your pace, our work may include exploring identity changes, processing difficult emotions, managing anxiety or intrusive thoughts, and building coping strategies that fit your life as it is now. I also incorporate creativity, metaphor, and gentle reflection to help you access insight and new perspectives in a way that feels natural and supportive.
This is a collaborative process — one where you feel heard, understood, and empowered to move through motherhood with more steadiness, confidence, and connection to yourself and your baby.
Creative Arts Therapy with Perinatal Women and New Moms
Through imagery, storytelling, and creative expression, you can process your experiences in ways that go beyond language when it’s difficult to put feelings into words. These methods can help make sense of overwhelming emotions, shifting roles and identities, and the emotional ups and downs of motherhood. In this way, creative arts therapy becomes a space for insight, healing, and reconnecting with yourself during this transformative season.
