From Tension to Connection
Family Therapy in Lakewood, Colorado and online across CO, MO & NY
Helping families navigate conflict, build understanding, communicate better to weather the tides of life.
Everyone in your family is feeling the palpable tension at home and you aren’t sure who to break the cycle without causing yet another huge fight.
As you are the one sitting here looking for a therapist to help your family and, as a mom myself, I see you.
You are at your wits end trying to hold everything together while also taking care of your kids, wanting to feel heard by your partner or co-parent, and trying to support your family as a whole, and it has left you completely depleted.
Family relationships can be messy, meaningful, and deeply important all at once. When emotions run high and everyone feels stuck in unhealthy patterns, it’s easy to feel misunderstood, disconnected, or unsure of how to move forward.
Therapy with me creates a space where support can make a difference — where each family member can feel heard and validated while helping you find new ways to communicate, reconnect, and navigate challenges together.
You might be experiencing…
Regular fights in your family when you wake up each day hoping it will be different
Feeling disconnected from your family and like nobody hears you no matter how loud or many times you say something
Your kid slamming the door in your face every single day when all you are trying to do is take care of them
Thoughts that you promised yourself that you would never parent like you were parented, but are tempted to rip the hinges off
Struggles to adjust to a major change in your family’s day to day life, like a new baby, divorce, blending your family with your spouse’s, loss or changes in roles
Finding yourself in a high conflict situation when all you are trying to do is communicate with your co-parent on behalf of your children, and finding it difficult to reconnect with your child after time apart
A space for your family to hear each other and
come back together.
How I Help
I work with families to create a safe, structured space where each person has the opportunity to be heard and understood. Together, we slow down patterns of conflict, explore what’s happening beneath the surface, and begin to shift the ways family members relate to one another.
I begin the process by getting to know each family member individually so that I can support everyone jointly. I use a blend of conversation, creative approaches, and practical tools, and I help families build communication skills, navigate big emotions, and take responsibility in ways that support trust and connection. Whether you’re working through ongoing tension, adjusting to change, or reconnecting after time apart, our work focuses on helping your family feel more steady, supported, and connected in everyday life.
Even when times are tough, you’ll feel confident in knowing that there is a strong foundation of respect, understanding and the desire to hear and support one another.
Creative Arts Therapy with Families
Creative arts therapy offers families a way to connect, communicate, and understand one another beyond words. Through storytelling, role play, and creative expression, family members can explore emotions and practice new ways of interacting in a safe, supportive, and neutral space. Using a strength-based approach, we build on each person’s existing strengths while gently shifting patterns that feel stuck. These methods are especially helpful when communication is difficult or emotions run high, allowing everyone to express themselves in ways that feel natural, accessible and non-judgemental. Together, families can strengthen connection and create more supportive, balanced ways of relating.
Family Therapy Can Help With…
Creating more positive moments where your family feels genuinely heard, understood, supported and connected
Strengthening communication and working through conflict with more care and connection
Finding your footing in a new normal after a big, and sometimes scary, change
Building healthier patterns and relationships that feel more balanced and supportive
Making space for repair, growth, and stronger emotional connection
Creating a home environment that feels more calm, respectful, safe, and connected for everyone involved
Your family’s story is just beginning — Let’s write the next chapter with more understanding, steadiness, and care.
Let’s take the next step together.

I bring over 20 years of experience working with children and families across a range of settings, including trauma-informed care, children’s services, crisis support, and inpatient mental health. My work has included high-stakes situations, supporting families navigating intense conflict, safety concerns, and significant life transitions. I have specific experience and specialization in high-conflict divorce and working with families navigating litigation, as well as supporting reintegration and complex family dynamics with structure, clarity, and care. I am trained in both traditional and creative approaches, including creative arts and drama therapy, which allow families to explore challenges and build new patterns in a safe, neutral space.

Think of family therapy as a space where we slow things down and get curious together. Instead of talking at each other (or shutting down), we create room to listen, understand, and try new ways of connecting. It’s less about “fixing” someone and more about finding your way back to each other.
-
Family therapy begins with individual sessions for each family member so that we can build trust, establish rapport, and better understand each person's unique perspective. Once that foundation is in place, we'll come together for family sessions, where we'll take our time to get used to being in therapy together and go at a pace that feels comfortable for everyone.
-
Every session is a little different. We might:
Talk through a recent challenge
Practice new ways of communicating
Use creative activities to explore feelings
Slow down a tough moment and look at it from a new angle
It’s collaborative, flexible, and tailored to your family.
-
Then we’re probably in the right place.
Families are complex, and emotions can run high. Therapy gives you a supported space to move through those moments in a way that feels safer, more contained, and ultimately more productive.
-
You are a huge part of the process.
Parents often walk away with new insight, language, and tools that make day-to-day interactions feel a little less overwhelming and a lot more connected.
-
There’s no one-size-fits-all answer. Some families come in for support around a specific challenge, while others stay longer to build deeper patterns of connection. We’ll figure out what feels right for you.
-
I bring a mix of warmth, curiosity, and creativity into the room. That might look like play, storytelling, or gently exploring what’s happening beneath the surface—always with the goal of helping your family feel more connected, understood, and supported.
-
No. It is out of the scope of my role as a therapist to make recommendations regarding custody or visitation, or any other questions that deviate from my role as a therapist.
-
As noted in the Fees and Investment page, my fee for family therapy is $250 per 50-minute session. However, for reintegration and court-involved therapy, the fee is $300 per hour, reflecting the additional time and coordination these cases often require. This may include communication with other professionals, documentation, and consultation to most effectively support your family throughout the process.
