<image:title>Services - FAMILIES</image:title>
<image:caption>“The best thing to hold onto in life, is each other.” - Audrey Hepburn It is often useful to engage the full family unit (or select members) in an effort to further support the client, of any age. Instances occur when I will work with families as a whole, when the group itself is the “identified client.” We will create structure and boundaries to allow for a safe space. We will use active and engaging techniques, to support the family in becoming more comfortable and accustomed to working together with open and respectful communication.</image:caption>

<image:caption>“There is no standard for normal. Normal is subjective. There are seven billion versions of normal on this planet.” - Matt Haig There are instances where ongoing therapy is not the preference, despite having specific therapeutic needs and/or goals. In these cases, I offer Therapy Intensives, for individuals and families, with options for half-day, full-day and weekend.</image:caption>

<image:title>Services - ADOLESCENTS</image:title>
<image:caption>“I want answers now, I’m not interested in what I’ll understand 10 years from now.” - Rebel Without a Cause Adolescence is commonly recognized as a turbulent time filled with a roller coaster of emotions and behaviors that can be hard for others to understand. I provide teenagers a separate, confidential space to work through their ideas, feelings and experiences. By working with someone they are comfortable with, their sense of self and feelings of success are known to improve. The adolescent stage of life is often filled with intensity, angst, complexities and nuances and it is my priority to provide teens with a safe and brave space that is free of judgment. I allow for open expression of challenging feelings, such as stress, confusion, ambivalence and identity. I will encourage them to practice embodying different roles and characteristics so that they may find where they feel most grounded and authentic.</image:caption>

<image:title>Services - CONSULTATION</image:title>
<image:caption>“Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” -Helen Keller I am available to consult with various medical and mental health professionals regarding treatment planning, interventions and case reports. I offer further consultation to theatre and educational programs that wish to be trauma informed and therapeutically responsible, in addition to assisting with production elements that are related to psychological concepts and mental health issues.</image:caption>

<image:title>Services - CLINICAL SUPERVISION</image:title>
<image:caption>“Let us guide our students over the road of discipline from materials, through function, to creative work.” - Ludwig Mies Van Der Rohe I am committed to being a guide and support to other clinicians, novice or seasoned. We will make space for processing transference, countertransference and vicarious trauma, brainstorm varied interventions, discuss the need for self-care and deliberate about ethics and working within various systems. If you are a provisional clinician in Colorado who is in need of supervised hours for licensure, we will take extra time to accomplish any administrative requirements to prepare and maintain your journey towards licensure. As a Board Certified Trainer (BCT), of Drama Therapy, it is my honor to mentor future Drama Therapists, in North America, who are enrolled in the Alternative Training Program.</image:caption>

<image:title>Services - CHILDREN</image:title>
<image:caption>“A person’s a person, no matter how small.” - Dr. Suess It is commonly said that play is the language of children, through which they may communicate to develop their own sense of self and life skills as they move bravely towards the future. In working with children, I incorporate the use of play, puppetry, masks, drama and the creative arts to safely and effectively explore their personal, and sometimes hard to reach, issues and feelings. In offering therapy to children as young as three years old, it is a priority to include parents, caregivers and other family members (when it is appropriate to do so) to ensure feelings of confidence and safety as well as long-lasting positive results. To ensure continuity of care and communication, I am able to collaborate with teachers, doctors and other individuals important to the child.</image:caption>

<image:title>Services - ADULTS</image:title>
<image:caption>“Owning our story is the bravest thing we will ever do.” -Brené Brown My approach to working with adults is to develop a space that is collaborative and interactive, by utilizing warmth, compassion, humor and mindfulness. The creative process varies with each client and their own comfort level. Our work may focus on working through underlying emotional issues, processing past trauma, examining relationships, assessing and prioritizing needs, exploring life satisfaction and working towards personal goals and emotional stability. With specific specialty in working with those experiencing perinatal and new parenthood challenges and transitions, I offer an empowered and compassionate space to provide stability during these monumental shifts. In this shared therapeutic space, I work to help adults clarify and evaluate the different roles they play in life and the impact those roles have on their lives and relationships. I will help these indiviuals tap into their inherent bravery, confidence and authentic sense of self.</image:caption>

<image:title>About - WHAT IS DRAMA THERAPY?</image:title>
<image:caption>“Drama therapy is the intentional use of dramatic arts and/or theater processes to achieve therapeutic goals. Drama therapy is active and experiential. This approach can provide the context for participants to tell their stories, set goals and solve problems, express feelings, or achieve catharsis. Through drama, the depth and breadth of inner experience can be actively explored and interpersonal relationship skills can be enhanced. Participants can expand their repertoire of dramatic roles to find that their own life roles have been strengthened.” Visit the North American Drama Therapy Association for more information.</image:caption>

<image:title>About</image:title>
<image:caption>I was awarded a Master of Arts degree, in Drama Therapy, from New York University and gained my licensing hours in a number of clinical settings, including domestic violence support and care, school-based therapy, intensive trauma recovery treatment, addiction treatment, and long-term mental health rehabilitation. My work continued to evolve as I provided home-based care for adolescents and families that were experiencing crisis. I worked extensively in acute inpatient psychiatric units with patients aged across the lifespan, in addition to patients on the autisim spectrum and who were pregnant. I hold certification as a Lucid Body teacher, which is a form of movement and self-exploration, which allows the participant to gain insight about themselves through deep somatic awareness. I was given a unique opportunities to direct and produce theatre for social change productions and later worked closely with youth in Uganda in providing community-based theatre education and experiences. In December 2017, I was elected as The Government Affairs Chair, on the Board of Directors of The North American Drama Therapy Association, leading me to speak on Capitol Hill, in Washington DC, in an effort to advocate for the arts and the creative arts therapies. Now, additional to my therapy practice, I serve as an adjunct faculty member at Lesley University's master’s level Drama Therapy Students. I have helped children, adolescents, adults, new & expectant parents and families tap into their own bravery to work through issues related to domestic violence, childhood trauma, mental illness, addiction, parenting support, bullying, school-related stress, opposition and anger, depression, low self-esteem, perinatal challenges, new motherhood and more.</image:caption>

<image:title>Home - EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE A NEW COLLABORATION!</image:title>
<image:caption>Brave Beauty Support Spaces is a collaboration between longtime friends and colleagues; An accessible community where, together, we will safely uncover the connection between our mental health and feeling beautiful, inside and out. The unfortunate reality is that feeling beautiful on an everyday basis is a challenge for most women, for a variety of different reasons. With guidance from Ashley Kleinman Martinez, RDT, LCAT, LPC (Registered Drama Therapist, Licensed Creative Arts Therapist and Licensed Professional Counselor) and Ashley Ann Capone (Beauty Activist with Beauty Marks NYC), we will explore a variety of women’s issues that pose challenges in finding, feeling, and creating beauty for ourselves and each other. Together, we will learn how to navigate our new normal, assert new boundaries, and process contributing tramas; we will unlearn current beauty culture so we can reclaim and rebuild a new, empowering one that challenges societal standards. When we do the work to improve ourselves and our outlook, we will move the narrative forward for all of us and our children. Visit Instagram for more information.</image:caption>

<image:title>My Approach (Copy)</image:title>
<image:caption>Making the decision to seek therapy is an incredibly brave step and I am here to support you throughout your journey towards strength, recovery and wellness. I provide creative psychotherapy for children, adolescents, adults and families. I believe that everyone is deserving of a therapeutic environment that meets their own unique treatment needs. My work as a counselor is integrative, which allows me to collaborate with you throughout the therapeutic process. I do this in a strength-based manner to guide you towards feeling heard, grounded and successful. In my approach to counseling I work to fill the space with warmth, compassion and empowerment. Doing so allows you to creatively explore your ideas, thoughts, feelings and experiences in a manner that is unique to you, at your own pace. It is my belief and practice that therapy is a collaborative process where I bring my full self so that I can encourage you to do the same. You will be able to bravely explore risks, find solace and speak your authentic voice. Informed by my training and clinical experience, I offer verbal therapy, as well as creative and action-oriented interventions; modalities such as play, story, improvisation, metaphor, and somatic awareness, expressing that which words alone cannot. We will work together to reach healthy connections between the mind and body, to allow for the safe expression of both positive and challenging feelings. My practice is based on the belief that in therapeutic relationships, bravery, resilience, trust and hope are held in the highest regard. We will co-create an individualized treatment plan and unique coping skills to establish a space of ongoing growth, progress and change</image:caption>

<image:caption>I received my Master of Arts from New York University and gained my licensing hours in a number of clinical settings, including domestic violence support and care, school-based therapy, intensive trauma recovery treatment, addiction treatment, and long-term mental health rehabilitation. My work continued to evolve as I worked home-based care for adolescents and families that were experiencing crisis. I worked extensively in acute inpatient psychiatric units with patients aged across the lifespan, in addition to patients on the spectrum and who were pregnant. I hold certification as a Lucid Body teacher www.lucidbody.com that is a form of movement and self-exploration, which allows the participant to gain insight about themselves through deep somatic awareness. I was given a unique opportunity to work closely with youth in Uganda in providing community-based theatre education and experiences. In December 2017, I was elected as The Government Affairs Chair, on the Board of Directors of The North American Drama Therapy Association, leading me to speak on Capitol Hill, in Washington DC, in an effort to advocate for the arts and the creative arts therapies. I have helped children, adolescents, adults and families tap into their own bravery to work through issues related to domestic violence, childhood trauma, mental illness, addiction, parenting support, bullying, school-related stress, opposition and anger, depression, low self-esteem, perinatal challenges, new motherhood and more.</image:caption>

<image:caption>“A person’s a person, no matter how small.” - Dr. Suess It is commonly said that play is the language of children, through which they may communicate to develop their sense of self and life skills as they move bravely towards the future. In working with children, I incorporate the use of play, puppetry, masks, drama and the creative arts to safely and effectively explore their personal, and sometimes hard to reach, issues. When working with children, it is a priority to include parents, caregivers and family members (when it is appropriate to do so) to ensure feelings of confidence and safety and long-lasting positive results. To ensure continuity of care and communication, I am able to collaborate with teachers, doctors and other individuals important to the child.</image:caption>

<image:caption>“Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today, I am wise so I am changing myself.” - Rumi My approach to working with adults is to develop a space that is collaborative and interactive, by utilizing warmth, compassion, humor and mindfulness. The creative process varies with each client and their own comfort level. Our work may focus on working through underlying emotional issues, processing past trauma, examining relationships, assessing and prioritizing needs, exploring life satisfaction and working towards personal goals and emotional stability. In this shared therapeutic space, I work to help adults clarify and evaluate the different roles they play in life and the impact those roles have on their lives and relationships, so they may tap into their inherent bravery, confidence and authentic sense of self.</image:caption>

<image:title>Services (Copy) - Families</image:title>
<image:caption>“The best thing to hold onto in life, is each other.” - Audrey Hepburn It is often useful to engage the full family unit (or select members) in an effort to further support the client, of any age. Instances occur when I will work with families as a whole, when the group itself is the “identified client.” We will create structure and boundaries to allow for a safe space. We will use active and engaging techniques, to support the family in becoming more comfortable and accustomed to working together with open and respectful communication.</image:caption>

<image:caption>“Let us guide our students over the road of discipline from materials, through function, to creative work.” - Ludwig Mies Van Der Rohe I am committed to being a guide and support to other clinicians, novice or seasoned. In this space we can discuss the need for self-care and understanding vicarious trauma, process transference & countertransference, brainstorm drama therapeutic or other creative interventions, deliberate about ethics and working within systems. If you are a provisional clinician in Colorado who is in need of supervised hours for licensure, we will take extra time to accomplish any administrative requirements to prepare and maintain your journey towards licensure.</image:caption>

<image:caption>“I want answers now, I’m not interested in what I’ll understand 10 years from now.”- Rebel Without a Cause Adolescence is commonly recognized as a turbulent time filled with a roller coaster of emotions and behaviors that can be hard for others to understand. I provide teenagers a separate, confidential space to work through their ideas, feelings and experiences. By working with someone they are comfortable with, their sense of self and feelings of success are known to improve. The adolescent stage of life is often filled with intensity, angst, complexities and nuances and t is my priority to provide teens with a safe and brave space that is free of judgment. I allow for open expression of challenging feelings, such as stress, confusion, ambivalence and identity. I will encourage them to practice embodying different roles and characteristics so that they may find where they feel most grounded and authentic.</image:caption>

<image:title>Services (Copy) - Home & Community</image:title>
<image:caption>“Home is where your story begins.” - Annie Danielson Sometimes a client will feel more comfortable for their therapy to take place at home or specific locations in their community, which can lead to more effective treatment. This may also take place in times of crisis. When appropriate, I am able to make these accommodations.</image:caption>
